We didn't just say BRBN outperforms. We proved it.
In the fall of 2024, we submitted two models of our BRBN 2.5" off-road coilover prototypes—alongside Fox Suspension's 2.5 Factory Series equivalent offering (identified as “Sample 3” in the results below)—to RE Suspension in North Carolina for comprehensive testing.
The independent testing company, RE Suspension has been a trusted name in the industry since 2002, with a combined 200 years of experience across their team. They are widely regarded as one of North America’s foremost authorities in suspension testing and tuning.
The following charts present shock dyno testing results focused on adjustment range and durability—both individually and comparatively. In an industry where this level of testing is rarely made public, often requiring internal race teams or third-party analysis to access, BRBN is proud to take a different route, off the beaten path.
We believe in transparency—and even more in letting our products speak for themselves. Whether it’s on the shock dyno or out on the trail, BRBN delivers performance you can see and feel.
Durability Testing
We put three coilovers head-to-head in a controlled 2-hour durability test — 10 hits per second at 4–5" stroke — using the same conditions for each test.
The Result: Our BRBN 2.5" Dual-Adjustable (DA) Coil Overs delivered the most balanced and predictable performance, combining high-speed impact control with smooth rebound for a ride that stays composed from start to finish.
#1. BRBN Dual-Adjustable (DA) Production (in red): Stable damping across the full velocity range, delivering control, comfort, and consistency.
#2. BRBN Single-Adjustable (SA) Prototype (in blue): Strong compression performance, but not as even in rebound recovery.
#3. Fox 2.5 Factory Series† (in green): Noticeably firmer rebound damping that can feel less compliant over repeated impacts.
Bottom line: The BRBN 2.5 Coil Overs' precision tuning provides better traction, smoother handling, and dependable control across all terrain — the very reasons it’s our choice for off-road performance.
Fox's HSC & LSC Adjustment Range
High-Speed Compression Adjustment Range (Fox 2.5 Factory Series†): In our controlled test, the competitor’s 2.5" off-road coilover was cycled from its minimum to maximum High-Speed Compression settings. Under these conditions, the change in compression force measured within a relatively narrow range, indicating less variation between the softest and firmest settings compared to BRBN’s results.
Low-Speed Compression Adjustment Range (Fox 2.5 Factory Series†): The same competitor coilover was then cycled through its full Low-Speed Compression settings. Force measurements again showed a modest change across the adjustment range, resulting in smaller tuning increments when compared to the adjustment spread observed in our BRBN coilovers.
BRBN HSC Adjustments
In our controlled dyno test, both the BRBN 2.5" Dual-Adjustable coilover and the Fox 2.5 Factory Series† off-road coilover were cycled through their full High-Speed Compression settings.
The BRBN coilover showed a significantly wider force range between the softest and firmest settings — offering up to four times the variation measured in the Fox 2.5 Factory Series† under the same conditions.
This broader range allows for more precise tuning to handle everything from high-speed desert whoops to sharp impacts, giving drivers the ability to dial in a setup that matches their terrain and driving style.
BRBN LSC Adjustments
During the same controlled dyno session, the BRBN 2.5" Dual-Adjustable coilover and the Fox 2.5 Factory Series† off-road coilover were each tested across their full Low-Speed Compression settings.
The BRBN coilover demonstrated a broader change in damping force from minimum to maximum settings, resulting in more noticeable tuning adjustments.
This wider range provides greater flexibility for fine-tuning low-speed handling characteristics — such as body roll, cornering stability, and traction over technical terrain — compared to the range measured in the Fox 2.5 Factory Series†.
